Im back and with a lot of new plans

 

Hello guys,

sorry i’ve been gone for a while, i’ve been busy and a lot of things happened to me, but dont worry, i’m back πŸ™‚

As many of you requested, the plan for a new version of driver have been launch recently, for many of you who recently have visited the google group of the 9xxssf (the link in the side bar) will read it somewhere last 2 days ago. For those who haven’t read it,i explain it here πŸ™‚ the driver, V1.3 Sherry are in development Β currently and will be planned for not only Windows 7 platform, but also for Windows XP and MacOSX (both Snow Leopard and Leopard). Yes! that is correct. πŸ™‚

The expectation of when the driver will be finished is not yet confirm, and also the XP project will be made not only by me, but also with collaboration from other developers from the 9xxssf πŸ™‚ And we try to bring our best for XP users who longed for a better experience and better driver support πŸ™‚

The Windows 7 1.3 drivers will improved alot aspect from the V1.2, better power management, more bug fixed and yet increase the quality and performance up to 150% from the V1.2, remember that V1.2 increase performance 400% from stock drivers? Well V1.3 increase that number to a 150% more πŸ™‚

One of the biggest project in the V1.3 project is the MacOSX drivers for GMA950, this include support for both GMA950 macbooks and hackinstosh..while the quality remaining the same, the performance can be increased quite a lot from and better memory management, in fact i hope we can make the driver to have more than 64mb of Vram to bring up some of that performance that MacOSX need :

and i will do all my best in this project, so as other developers in the 9xxssf who helped me a lot since i was no one. Also you may have noticed a donation button at the left top side of this blog, please support the project by contributing, your support meant alot for this project, if u love the performance gained, then i will be here making more better driver and better support for other Intel hardware, and with your contribution i can do more and more πŸ™‚

    I’m sorry if this is already asked before, but is the project open source or not?

      In the current state, this project are not open source, although users may tapped inside the *.inf installation code and check anything they like even mod it for bug fix or other enhancement..again all change must be report to me for further checks, and will be use with credit to users that make the fix πŸ™‚
      for example, in the google group, NeoDragon made a driver for the X3100 users based on my driver codes…

      other than that, such as the binary codes and some reverse engineering code are not open to public, as for copyright issue…
      other driver version such as for MacOSX and Linux are open source, although it still under development and will not be release until its finished (since the project for V1.3 MacOSX is just recently planned) ..

    it is worthy if it does, cause there is no solution yet besides swiftshader3.0 and WARP 10 (but i can’t success to make it work)

      hmm, the main concept of making the V1.3 is not to make Shader Model 3 work..
      for GMA950/Intel 945 series, the driver will mainly improved the current SM2 support, as some SM2 games cant be played yet, CoD4 for example…
      for the Intel 965 series / x3100 on the other hand will have SM3 improvements mainly because it is already supported in hardware…

      to make GMA950 have SM3 is rather another level as it doesn’t have it in hardware, making it almost impossible to have…again it is limited by hardware, even making the best driver can’t change it yet…
      but i will try and see if there are some hope in there πŸ™‚

    (Even if “available” is only a pre-beta release)

    I’m currently stuck on Sigma v3 because I’m using Win 7 x64 and would really love to have one of your Sherry drivers πŸ™‚

      well, i dont hav enough free time to finish it as fast as i could mainly i have classes and part time job..
      again i will try to do everything that i can to finish it as soon as possible…i do know that i delayed the driver again and again, im trully sorry as i am still busy at the moments, i do gotta eat and that requires money and money obtain by working my ass of :))
      for the beta phase release, im not sure, i have been in collaboration with the 9xxssf to release the beta drivers as soon as it is ready to users that have join the Folding@Home project, so they will be prioritize.. but that’s just a plan, so if anyone want to have the beta drivers, Folding@Home in our group with ur name that i can know..there’s still time to fold until the driver finished πŸ™‚ u can ask here how to fold for the team, at least 1 Work unit will granted u the access to my pre built driver

      also the driver pre-beta / beta / finish driver will be sent to users who have donated to me..that is if the driver is ready..

      but still, dont worry, the V1.3 release will be prioritize, and win7 32 bit and 64 bit will be release at the same time, so yeah, both platform will enjoy the feature pack driver at the same release date πŸ™‚

      well, the XP will be done after the windows 7 drivers 32 bit and 64 bit finish, i do prioritize the win7 driver first because it is more flexible..
      but dont worry, the XP drivers will be made ASAP as the win7 versions finish…

      about the SM3 support, as i said, it is almost impossible to make it support, even if we can emulate it, the result will be the same as using SwiftShader 3..
      what i can do about the V1.3 are making the Vertex Shader 3 support available, so games like CoD4 and other games like Fifa10 work flawlessly..but for a full Shader model 3 support is possible, but hard as hell, mainly because of Pixel Shader 3 is resource intensive and the GMA 950 / intel 945 series…

      for the x3100 / Intel 965 series on the other hand will have an optimized SM3 code, so shader model 3 performance for the x3100 / Intel 965 will improve with the upcoming V1.3..

  14. Will the new driver include any support for Intel’s 945GSE / Express graphics chipset (GMA950)?

      Yes :))
      there’s many users that do complained that the previous V1.2 did not work very well on 945GSE chipsets, some said that there are performance boost but only a little.. in the V1.3, there will be a dedicated version just for the 945GSE chipsets so there will (hopefully) more performance boost without bugs and performance drops like the previous driver πŸ™‚

    Wonderfull news that u r back!:) Can u tell if it will be possible for ashes cricket 2009 demo to run fine without the glitches like white hair etc. with the 1.3 drivers?The last time I could contact u,u said u were downloading the game to check the white hair problem…so what did u find out bro?

      yeah, there are some bugs on the previous V1.2 that caused the white hair, as i said before it is confirm to be a bug in the Software Vertex code.. hopefully i will be able to fix that error in V1.3, also i am sorry for the error 😦 hopefully the V1.3 will give u much more better performance and graphic quality for ur game πŸ™‚

      Sorry bro 😦 , but it would be really helpful if u tried reducing ur shortform line..
      for ur question, im guessing its something like this

      well, that depends on the game engine u try to run, some newer game engines like Valve’s Source engine would definitely run very well on windows 7 compared to Xp…but to compared it closely would have to wait till V1.3 XP finished as it will be the first XP driver to theoretically provide Software TnL support…

      also i am very1000x sorry if there are some comments that i missed or didnt reply, with all my 9xx work, part time work and college filling me uo, i usually dont have time for myself anymore…again i am very sorry..

      to learn from is very overated πŸ™‚
      im still infact a student and still learning something new every day…for tips on making drivers u can ask my sensei at the 9xxssf Google Group. links at the side bar above.. there u can find MAD_BEAST (or Jose) and KinGPin, where those brothers of mine teach me the very basics of driver development..

    How do you think v1.3 (for windows 7, if it matters) would improve OpenGL support? I’d love to be able to play Minecraft on my laptop but even with recent updates it’s still just way too slow even on lowest settings and even with v1.2. If I could play ONLY that I think I’d be content haha.

      Im not very sure yet as it still under testing and fine tuning…
      i think it would improve significantly coz before the V1.3, there are no driver of mine (since V1.0) ever prioritize on OpenGL performance as many of users demand D3D performance…but since early this year, more and more user demand openGL compatibility and performance, so yeah the V1.3 will improve both D3D and OpenGL support and performance :))

      Swiftshader 3? Swiftshader 3 is another product develop by TransGaming. I do not work for those team, and by that u mean if i got the ShaderModel 3 working, then no, it is a hardware limit and nothing software that can make it work faster if the hardware does not support it..again that’s for 945 or GMA950..

      for X3100 or the 965 chipsets, then the V1.3 can make SM3 process faster than stock…

      The V1.3 are actually the V1.2 Rev3 that was planned last year, so yeah it has been renamed to V1.3 after much and much much more features pack inside this version,, again that said it will consume time. i have college and part time work to provide me some income until i finish college and have my own income if i got a job…again any user can contribute by donating to the cause, donation links can be found on the upper right of the blog ..also i did mention that donors will have early access when the driver is ready for testing distribution πŸ™‚

      again i am sorry for the lateness, but please be patient and i will try to release the driver as soon as possible πŸ™‚

      Hi there πŸ˜‰

      The problem with SM 3.0 is that it normally requires hardware. Swirftshader will use your CPU to emulate that hardware – meaning your CPU does the work. This is why the framerate is unstable -> as soon as the CPU has to do something else it will no longer have the power to handle this task as fast as before and you see a drop in framerate.
      Seeing that your card doesn’t have the hardware implementation for SM 3.0, your best bet is to stay with Swiftshader. Angelic can’t implement the SM 3.0 in your hardware. It’s like buying a van and wanting to use it to fly across the ocean – it’s not possible because the van hasn’t got wings and so forth. While adding wings to your van might be possible, it will alter the hardware (no chip-tuning the car or anything alike will make it able to fly). So to sum it up, you might improve the power of your engine (the performance of your car) but you can’t make it fly (the graphics card can’t use SM 3.0 via driver modifications).

      This is why I would suggest that you either buy a new laptop (that has a graphics card supporting SM 3.0) or that you stay with Swiftshader.

      WARP can be use directly if u have windows 7, so no need to implement WARP in my driver..
      think WARP as a substitute for SwiftShader, both are software renderer…

      Software Renderer / Rasterizer are very much different than drivers, Drivers are a set of program that allows OS to interact with Hardware, in this case the GPU… Software renderer clones a GPU by directing the DirectX / OpenGL calls to CPU for processing and it does degrades performance a lot…

        if the game uses SM3, even software Vertex could not help to run the game, indeed i can make a driver better but still hardware limitation as SM3 is far out of my reach…

      as i said before, there are some certain that cant be process with drivers, the upcoming Sherry 1.3 will have vertex shader 3, but not pixel shader 3, so SM3 is almost impossible to process with just driver, u can use SwiftShader 3 for it, but like u said it is quite slow…

      by mean somebody have succeeded on making SM3 work on Intel GMA 950 by all means share it here, as far as i know, everybody is working hard for making it work but still up to date none succeeded, for me also who have been working on this project almost everyday find it almost impossible, u can ask MAD_BEAST in the 9xxssf Google Group, again he will say the same, we have been working together in previous project, even for us, there are some limitations…

      all i can do is try to make Sherry 1.3 codes better and better, my aim now is not for Shader Model 3 games to work, but older SM2 games like CoD4 and Battlefield 2 to work on intel 945 or GMA 950..

      for Shader Model 3 games, the Sherry 1.3 will support SM3 only for intel 965 or well known as intel x3100…

      I do have announce that the driver will be release in this month for Windows 7 both 32bit and 64bit in the google group, The XP and Mac driver will be release in June, that’s a rough schedule on the release date πŸ™‚

    bro i installed sherry 1.3.1 or 1.3.2 something for my intel gma 3100…previously i couldnt play cod2 but now it plays it extra good but cod4 still cant play,you said cod4 needs sm2 soo why sherry drivers cant help play cod4????and what else games can you play with these drivers and games that support sm2???plz reply i have been searching for months but now it may be possible because of you…thanks again….and i installed sherry drivers without any problem ….
