GMA3100 is coming to the family, finally. After several test and careful development, GMA3100 is finally here, plus it will be joining the 1.3.2 update pack directly.
The Sherry 1.3.2 update will also, hopefully, fix several bugs and performance issue. Since the last update (1.3.1), severe bugs and issue are reported to be fix. Hopefully 1.3.2 will try to further improve stability and improve on performance.
Sherry 1.3.2 key factors :
- Complete core code revamp, a lot of time consumed, but it is worth
- Power saving features now increase battery life time by 15% more (compared to Sherry 1.3)
- Hopefully to increase webGL performance on all chipsets variant
- Major update in Dynamic Memory Handler (try to max out maximum VRAM available for the device)
- Optimize for Core Solo Processor, the driver will adjust the processor required in single CPU system.
- Again fix several other system that have validation error
Other notes will be list on the release day.
Other than that, as single update package will also be release for GAM3150 users, although it will be release a little late than the standard package above. Still, the Sherry 1.3.2 for GMA3150 will include all the update from 1.3.1 and further stability fix and validation error fix for some system. Looking forward for the release 😀

64bit driver won’t be continue until 32bit drivers are in the acceptable in terms of stability and performance, which is almost near. Other then that, I won’t giving out an exact time, but 64bit drivers will be release directly to the current stable 32bit driver. for example, if in that time Sherry 1.3.xx released, then 64bit driver pack will be release with that version as well. No one gets left behind 😀

will the update increase the memory from 256?? and will it eliminate screen tearing in some games?
Although I’m not sure which max memory that are supported as it is vary from chipset configuration. I xan assure that the update will use as much as memory shared set on bios.

Well, the fact that I don’t have a GMA3150 system on my possession, I can’t do anything on speeding things up. Unless I have enough money to buy one myself to help the project. Currently I only have 945 / GMA950 laptop, so naturally things are working fast cause I have the 945 to test as often as I can.
Also programming a driver isn’t as easy as it seem, a lot of effort are done. Plus I’m a one man army working for free, not a company full of programmers.
Despite that, I do am sorry for the lateness, as my last post said, the GMA3150 1.3.2 update will come as soon as it is finish.

The first version didn’t worked for me because it said me “this driver can’t be installed on this computer because it hasn’t been validated for this computer”, so I need to wait for the next release.
And if you need a beta tester just send me a mail, I’ll be happy to test it for you!
Will windows 8 developer preview get support?
I already tested Sherry 1.3.1 with Windows 8 Developer Preview, and it is working great 😀 for me at least.
Although there are some thing that can be improve as Win8 will be based on web tech, so the rendering will have to be improve a bit. Gaming wise it shows a little more performance than in Win7.
So yes, when the Windows 8 retail will be release, you can expect full support from the future Sherry Driver series. Note that you’ll have to keep a stock driver handy as Win8 DP don’t have intel 945 driver in it, so as in windows update.
The old 64-bit 945 1.1 driver works great on Windows 8 Dev. 🙂

They are several test app that I used for some basic benchmarking.. for standard, I used performancetest to do some basic bench. For webgl, I used webgl aquarium on both chrome and firefox. U can use any other benchmarking tool out there. 😀

The BSOD will hopefully fixed on the upcoming 1.3.2 update. Although it’s still under close testing. Update will be posted later on 😀
Does it work with Window 8 Developer Preview ?
I tried installing on an Acer One with GMA3150
(“PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A011&SUBSYS_05901025&REV_02”)
but Sherry 1.3 said “This driver does not support your current system”.
These systems are going for $250 after tax at Walmart in the States right now.
Okay, I found the link to the v1.3.2 GMA 3150 driver but now I get the message:
“The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer’s manufacturer.
Setup will exit.”
I tried also to “Run as Administrator”… using Windows 7… will look for an answer. Any suggestions?
Is it possible to set screen resolution to 1440×900 while installing your driver? My 19″ monitor accepts up to this resolution, and now, after the installation of Sherry driver, I am not capable to see anything (message: resolution not supported)! Thanks in advance…
There’s one main problem with other previous drivers, All modded drivers doesn’t support for full aspect ratio(no border). There’s always 2 black bars at the side of screen, but on stock intel gma3100 im able to see that option (1. Maintain Aspect Ratio 2. Full Screen Ration) i hope on this update has full aspect ratio settings. Goodluck and more power.
